Coded RFID Safety Switches

The ZCode RFID Safety Switches are tamper-proof, non-contact safety switches with magnetic as well as RFID technology for the use in the area of mechanical and plant engineering. This dual-channel and diverse principle once again increases safety.

The Switches achieve a low coding level with Mastercode and high coding level with Unicode version according to EN ISO 14119. The switching status is indicated by a LED. All the ZCode RFID Switches are dust- and water-proof (IP67, ZCode-LRE: IP67K) and have an additional indicator contact.

What is a coded RFID safety switch?

An RFID safety switch is a contactless safety device that monitors whether movable safety guards (such as doors, flaps, or hoods) are closed. Unlike conventional magnetic switches, it uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. A read head on the fixed part of the machine transmits a radio signal that is detected and responded to by a transponder on the movable part. Since the switch only responds to a specifically coded transponder, it offers extremely high protection against tampering, as it cannot be easily outwitted with a conventional magnet.

What are the features of a coded RFID safety switch?

  • Maximum safety: The dual-channel, diversity principle combining magnetic and RFID technology achieves the highest possible level of safety.
  • Highest certified safety: The switches are TÜV-tested in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 (up to Cat. 4 / PL e) and EN IEC 62061 (SIL 3), comply with the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and offer extreme protection with IP67 or IP69K enclosure classes, depending on the model.
  • Status display at a glance: An integrated LED display shows the current switching status directly on the device for quick diagnosis.
  • Additional communication: An integrated signal contact allows status data to be easily transmitted to the control level.
  • Efficient series connection: Up to 20 modules can be connected in series to ZANDER safety relays or controllers without any loss of safety.

What are the areas of application for coded RFID safety switches?

  • Food and pharmaceutical industry: IP69K certification (ZCode-LRE) makes them perfect for areas with strict hygiene requirements and intensive cleaning processes.
  • Packaging machines: Reliable protection for fast-cycling safety doors where mechanical wear is to be avoided.
  • Automated production lines: Monitoring of large plant areas thanks to the simple option of connecting up to 20 sensors in series.
  • Special machine construction: Wherever a high level of tamper protection is required to prevent personnel from bypassing safety devices.
